Dennis Ray Greenwood, 54, of Columbia passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Boone Hospital Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born on Sept. 15, 1953, in Columbia, the son of the late Thomas Sylvester and Jane Bennett Greenwood.
He was united in marriage to Suzanne Prewitt on Feb. 15, 1986, and she survives at the home.
Mr. Greenwood graduated from Hickman High School and Columbia College with a bachelor of arts degree in history/government (criminal justice).
He and his father were partners in an interior design business in Columbia until the death of his father. He then attended and graduated from Southwest Paralegal Institute in Texas.
He worked for the attorney general’s office and was a human rights officer for the Missouri Commission on Human Rights. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, an avid MU fan, woodworker, baseball fan, and greatly enjoyed his family and pets.
In addition to his wife Suzanne, survivors include his son, Adam Rice and companion Jerrica Whitlow and granddaughter Anaya Rice, all of Columbia; siblings Bonita Heet and husband Frank of Centertown, Maxine Clark and husband Bobby of St. Louis, and Jeff Greenwood and wife Lisa of Columbia; mother-in-law Betty Prewitt of Chillicothe, Mo.; brothers-in-law John Prewitt and wife Jenni of Chillicothe, Ill., and Jim Prewitt and wife Patti of Navasota, Texas; sister-in-law Sondra Skipper and husband Larry of Chillicothe, Mo. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
