Her Kewpies Connect profile has been updated.

How to contact a Kewpie

Picture
Bill Moyes has taken on the role of the keeper of the Kewpie database. If you want to contact a 1971 classmate, email Bill your contact information with the name of the person you want to reach (qp71@centurytel.net) and he will write the Kewpie in question. It will then be up to that person to respond to you via your contact information.

Well. It was an incredible experience at the 40th Reunion of the Hickman Class of 1971. The palpable sense of good will and camaraderie was like a jolt of electricity. So are you surprised that people are beginning to talk about how to build on that sense of excitement? What might we do together?

2013. You will most likely be 60 or thereabouts -- a milestone year. You'll probably have a few parties with relatives and friends and business colleagues. Cake will be involved. How about a birthday treat for yourself? You could spend a few days with classmates. Suggest a date you would like.<<<click to send.

Arts. Others have begun to imagine how they might make music or theater or art together. Someone has suggested we collaborate on curating a mini-film series at a Columbia micro-cinema.

LifePassions. As we approach our 60s and beyond, we want to invite classmates to share 15-minute presentations on their life's passions: family, work, faith, hobbies, travel, and just about anything. Of course, we would have to limit these sessions to 4 or 5 presentations at a time and offer lots of food and drink.

Travel. We've also heard rumors of cruises, bike tours, or nature experiences and float trips to celebrate 60th birthdays.

Questions.
So, when would this happen? Who would be in charge? Could you add ideas for things to do? Is this part of the next reunion?

What is it going to be? The incubation period for 2013 should not be rushed but having a deadline focuses the mind and shapes the conversation. Start now by sending the ideas you'd like to have considered. <<<click to send.

Who would come? Anyone that 1971 Kewpies know: Hickman grads that came before or after us, friends, family, colleagues -- anyone you want to invite.

Is this part of the next reunion? There is an official reunion every five years; start making plans for our 45th Reunion in 2016. The 2013 gathering will reunite classmates in events to be determined in collaborations with each other.

Where: Columbia...and elsewhere.

Maps: A new map details the 1971 Kewpies Diaspora of 40 years.

41st Year

This website has become a time capsule. Very little has been done to update our 40th Reunion gathering which took place in August 2011. You can change that. We need your help to weed and replant information on this website. Write your gardener.

8/26: The head-count for Friday's Patio Party is 264 people -- it was a fluid situation. The headline news for the event: the stars were out on Friday night.

8:27: Best reunion ever. 210 people attended the banquet amid tears, laughter and memories.

"We steeped our thirsty souls in the reviving wine of the past, the pathetic past, the beautiful past, the dear and lamented past; we uttered the names that had been silent upon our lips for fifty years, and it was as if they were made of music; with reverent hands we unburied our dead, the mates of our youth, and caressed them with our speech; we searched the dusty chambers of our memories and dragged forth incident after incident, episode after episode, folly after folly, and laughed such good laughs over them, with the tears running down..."
