Well, we experienced technology in all of its grand and seductive glory last night as we struggled to get our first skype video conference off the ground.
It never got completely airborne although we had valiant efforts from Daniel Patterson (thank you for offering us the skype 5.0 host), Wayne Smith (thank you for helping Mark Heisner upgrade, upload, and uplink), and Bill Moyes for setting up the facebook group that was the genesis of our online communications with each other.
The most important business was actually beginning to get re-acquainted with folks we barely knew 40 years ago. Cynthia Cooper Shaw provided a demonstration of google maps and the 1971-HHS prototype map. Five Kewpies had entered pins on the map and we were all mightily impressed with their tech savvy. What will be even more impressive is hearing the feedback as the map is rolled out on this site and on our facebook.
Mark Heisner shared the reunion event calendar as it stands now. Bill Moyes reported on the planning committee's interest in having a webpage. Ta da. And we set up our next skype conference on March 8 @ 8.30pm.
Again, the real purpose of the meeting was met when we met online. Pud was in Prescott Valley AZ; Bill, Mark and Rob were hunkered down in Columbia in the midst of an epic snowstorm; Wayne was in Dallas; Daniel was in KC experiencing a milder form of epic snow; Randall was enduring cold in Minneapolis; and Cynthia was experiencing life two hours earlier than the rest of us in Washington State.
If you join the skype conference on March 8, I'll figure out a way to mention your weather, state of mind or location.
