Angela “Angi” Weithman, 62, peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, to be with her late husband, Steve Weithman.
Angi and Steve were happily married in 1975 in Columbia, where they built a wonderful life together. Her sons remember Angi and Steve as gentle and patient parents who always encouraged them to pursue their goals and strive to make the world a more caring place.
Angi was born in Jamestown, N.D., the daughter of the late George and Beverly JoAnn Daniels. As a child, she moved to Columbia, where she graduated from Hickman High School, then attended the University of Missouri for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She worked for Boyce & Bynum as a cytotechnologist. After she retired, she enjoyed her true passion — teaching.
Angi was a dedicated tutor to many children, mentored at-risk students, taught others to sew and quilt and was a dedicated volunteer for hospice. She was an active member of Heart of Missouri Quilter’s Guild, a former member of Boonslick Trail Quilter’s Guild and was nominated for volunteer of the year at Hospice Advantage. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her love for children and grandchildren, and as a loyal friend.
Angi left behind a loving family: son Michael, his wife, Sarah, and their children, Lauren and Andrew; son Scott, his wife, Kate, and their children, Ollie, Augustus, Theodore and Emerson. Angi’s legacy lives on through her friends and family.
The family would like to thank Hospice Advantage, Deb Williams, Mary Linneman and Barb Nichols for their dedication and care for Angi during her final months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Missouri Girls Town, 8548 Jade Road, Kingdom City, Mo., 65262, or Hospice Advantage, 2620 S. Forum Blvd., Suite E, Columbia, Mo., 65201.
