Linda Doornbos (1953-2013)
Linda Kay Ballew Doornbos, 59, of Bloomington, Ill., passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013, surrounded by family.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the funeral home, with burial at East Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Grandview Baptist Church, 8300 N. Route Z in Centralia, with reception following.
Linda was born Dec. 10, 1953, in Columbia to Elgin Eugene (Gene) and Kathryn Faye Poore Ballew.
Linda married Keith Doornbos on Aug. 28, 1980.
Linda graduated from Hickman High in 1971 and Columbia College in 1981, with a bachelor's degree in both business administration and criminal justice.
She worked 44 years for State Farm Insurance Cos., the last 17 as an agent in Decatur, Ill. Linda was a Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant, and a member of the National Association of Insurance Agents and Financial Advisors and the Early Birds Kiwanis Club of Decatur.
Linda was a pilot, flying thousands of hours in light aircraft. She was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Experimental Aircraft Association and served as president of the Bloomington/Normal EAA Chapter 129 for more than three years.
She is survived by husband Keith; children Brian Foster of Chicago and Laura (David) Ludwig of Colfax, Ill.; and grandchildren Mackenzie Foster, and Eva, Carter and Landon Ludwig. Other survivors include her mother, Kathryn Houston; sister Dorothy (Mike) Wilson; and brothers Randy (Jacque) Ballew and Roger (Sonia) Ballew.
She was preceded in death by her father.
